Long ago (in a land far, far away...) I ordered Honda's LED Foglight Kit & Foglight Lens Protectors from Motovation Cycles down in Charlotte Hall, Maryland.

After being back ordered for an extended period of time, they finally arrived & George called me to let me know that they were in and when would I like to come down (from Dundalk, Maryland) to have them installed? A short trip of about 70 miles.

Unfortunately, my schedule had filled up and it took over a month before I could free up a free Saturday to ride down to have 'em installed.

Saturday, September 20th was that day...

Far be it for me to head out on an adventure without roping in someone else to share it with - so I called my buddy "Wheels" (not his real name!).

As coincidence would have it, there's an Oyster Festival in St. Mary's County the weekend of October 18 & 19 that some folks from GL1800Riders.com were interested in attending. We figured "What the heck, let's get my new driving lights installed and do a recon of the area!"

Jason is the mechanic who installed my LED fog lights & protectors. He did a good job and I'd ask for him again! (Hear that, Dan?)

(When I took these photos I wasn't planning on posting them on the web, so most of 'em aren't composed or framed worth a darn... Get over it!)

After Jason finished installing my lights, Wheels and I decided to head over to the "crab shack" that had been one of the stops during the annual "Chrome & Crab" Poker Run sponsored by the local G.W.R.R.A. Chapter.

Last time Wheels was there he hadn't made a note of the place's name. It now has a name: Quade's Store!

The crab cake sandwich was pretty darn good! It had a more pronounced onion flavor than I normally care for (not overpoweringly so, however) and a bit more red pepper than normal (which I did care for!)

I think this is the first time I've ever been to a restaurant where I could watch my crab cake being made.

It doesn't get any fresher than that!

There's a nice write-up on Alice Morgan Quade in the Maryland Life magazine

You might even say this is southern Maryland's version of "Alice's Restaurant" - but without the "Group W" bench...

Quade's Store has an "interesting" architectural feature. The floor slopes downward from the front of the store to the back. I'm guessing this is because of the influence of Hurricane Isabel back around September 19, 2003.

See what Wikipedia has to say about Hurricane Isabel's effects on Maryland.

After lunch and the obligatory - Wing by the water, with crab traps & pier pilings (in four-part harmony) - picture, we took off for the St. Mary's County Fairgrounds.

On the way, our attention got drawn to the St. Clement's Island Museum. At the Chrome and Crab Poker Run, Wheels said one of the stops was St. Clement's island just off the coast - reachable by a small shuttle boat - and he thought I might be interested in checking it out. I was - and we did...

Then... off to the County Fairgrounds. Some festival was going on with cars streaming in and out of the parking lot. The grass & gravel parking lot. We figured for the Oyster Festival we could park across the street - on the asphalt parking lot - and walk to the fairgrounds. Not everyone enjoys gravel as much as Wheels does. (Yeah... He's just that kinda guy).
