The original plan had been to join John "Bald Eagle" Garner on his "End of Daylight Savings" ride to the Crossroads Hotel in Hellerstown, Pennsylvania for "the best cheese steak north of Philadelphia".

As a matter of fact, I'd even mentioned the ride to a friend in New Jersey - and supplied him with a link to the thread on GL1800Riders.com.

(Make a note of that, I'll be coming back to it...)

But after some discussion with "Wheels" (Not his real name), we decided to ride closer to home and try to capture some of the fall foliage on... well... SD Card... (I guess...).

So the plan was for me to meet Wheels & Mrs. Wheels at the "Family Compound" at 9:30a.m. "Margarita Will"-time (9:40a.m. "Rest-of-the-World"-time) then meet the rest of the (names withheld to protect those in the Federal Witness Protection Plan) at the Wawa in Hickory, Maryland.

The group decided to have breakfast at...

Brogue, PA 17309

After breakfast we headed out to take in the fall foliage...

Oh yeah... Why "Pumpkin Pie" Run? Well... We've kinda got in the habit of coming up with cutesy names for our rides, and, well... Nancy had a piece of pumpkin pie for "dessert" (after breakfast!) and voila! Ride name! (Satisfied?)

Unbeknownst to me, Mrs. Wheels managed to capture my countenance on "film". Members of the "Mid-Atlantic Mob" are a secretive lot, but after some careful work with PhotoShop I decided there wouldn't be too much risk involved in releasing this picture.

Don't worry! That's not what I really look like. I'm actually 6'-2" and look like Tom Selleck...

(Slide your mouse over the picture to see what I mean...)

I even managed to capture a few pictures of the elusive "Wheels" (Not his real name!) and his wife... Mrs. Wheels...

Mrs. Wheels (Nancy) caught a really interesting shot of my bike in the rear view mirror of her bike...

You'll notice in this shot I Photoshop'd myself completely out of the picture!

If you look very carefully at the ground on the left side of the bike you can see where I wasn't quite able to completely erase all trace of a shadow cast by my boots...

And one last shot of...

The Doubloon!

Oh... My friend from New Jersey? Well... I got a PM from "HONDA JOHN" from GL1800Riders.com and he told me that I was in trouble again - my friend apparently showed up at the Crossroads Hotel in Hellerstown, Pennsylvania, but I, obviously, didn't...

Sorry, Tom!

(I guess I'll owe you an explanation on Monday...)

Oh...

Another thing... How many of you spent any amount of time squinting at the picture of my bike in Nancy's rear view mirror to see if you could see any trace of a shadow cast by my boots (referenced above)? I was kidding... Trust me...

I ain't that talented...
